About The Atlanta Project Management Meetup

Not too far in the distant past a group of five members were simply sharing information on processes and discussing frequent problems that were occurring with their projects. Did they have a vision that their networking efforts would grow to over 260,000 members and exist internationally in 171 countries? Probably not! Nonetheless, those who are certified project managers have helped to expand the growth of what is known today as the Project Management Institute (PMI).

The Atlanta Project Management MeetUp Group (APM) wants to continue the same effort of networking. My vision is to bring a collective group of Certified Project Managers together from various industries to discuss project commonality, improvements and lessons learned using the PMI methodologies.

A project which is defined as unique with a finite end date will consist of new ideas and concepts in implementing the project. If the project manager follows the PMI methodologies in implementing their project, this structured approach will bring the commonality project managers share. Whoever said that construction project managers, IT project managers, marketing project managers or any other certified project managers does not have much in common, perhaps is misunderstanding the methodologies that govern certified project managers.

If you are a certified project manager, you can assist in bringing APMs vision to fruition. Project managers from all industries, I encourage you to join this group so that we can share information on project successes, troubled projects, failed projects and lessons learned. This effort will produce beneficial fundamental successes and inculcate effective leadership for future projects. United we can continue to provide project management excellence!

In life, many thoughts are born in the course of a moment, an hour, a day. Some are dreams, some visions. Often, we are unable to distinguish between them. To some, they are the same; however, not all dreams are visions. Much energy is lost in fanciful dreams that never bear fruit. But visions are messages from the Great Spirit, each for a different purpose in life. Consequently, one person's vision may not be that of another. To have a vision, one must be prepared to receive it, and when it comes, to accept it. Thus when these inner urges become reality, only then can visions be fulfilled. The spiritual side of life knows everyone's heart and who to trust. How could a vision ever be given to someone to harbor if that person could not be trusted to carry it out. The message is simple: commitment precedes vision. ~ ~ High Eagle ~ ~
